About me
Hey there! I'm Florence,
and I'm here to support you.

For the past 13 years, I've been working as a Norland nanny and maternity nurse, and it has been an incredible journey. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of caring for children of all ages, including premature babies, twins, triplets, and those with complex needs.

A little bit about me: I've always had a strong affinity with babies, as far back as I can remember. Even as a little girl, I would often find myself getting lost in the baby care sections of shops, captivated by prams and car seats. I would be found strapping my younger brothers into prams and helping my mum feed them their bottles.

Having such a clear career path from a young age has been immensely beneficial. It allowed me to gain invaluable experience, setting a strong foundation for my journey.

Growing up I was coincidentally cared for by the most qualified nannies in Britain; Norland nannies at the now no longer Norland nursery in Hungerford . Fast forward a good few years and I myself was attending Norland College, this establishment shaped my future and passion for childcare.

While considering a career in midwifery, I knew deep down that I could never bear to part with the babies once they were born. Therefore, I chose the next best option: the ability to contribute to raising, caring, teaching, and becoming a significant figure in the lives of babies and children. To me, this role is the most empowering, rewarding, and crucial job one could ever have.

I began my journey with Norland at the age of 17, and by 19, I was ready to embark on my first job in London. I was eager and well-prepared for this exciting new venture.

I began my journey by specialising in twins, as I found them truly fascinating and had a strong connection with them during my early years as a nanny. Working with twins provided me with an excellent opportunity to master the art of multitasking.

Each baby in a set of twins has their own unique needs and personalities, and I made sure to meet each of their requirements with equal care and attention. I developed a routine, which I fondly referred to as the "conveyor belt system," allowing me to get both babies and myself ready to leave the house in the same amount of time as if I were caring for just one baby.

Afterwards, I developed a keen interest in troubleshooting and assisting families who were in desperate need of support and guidance. These particular roles proved to be incredibly fulfilling for me. It was truly rewarding to have the opportunity to work with numerous families within a relatively short period of time and witness their transformation.

After that, I wholeheartedly embraced my passion for maternity nursing, knowing it was where my true calling lay. I couldn't wait to dive right in and immerse myself in the role. Assisting families in finding their footing with their precious new bundle and witnessing the incredible bond between parent and newborn.

I had the privilege of providing encouragement and support to new parents during this pivotal time in their lives, and it was an honour to be a part of their journey. Recognising the importance of siblings in the family dynamic, I established a tradition of involving them on certain nights, where they assisted me with bath time or feeding. It created a sense of togetherness and allowed siblings to play a meaningful role in caring for their new family member.

After several fulfilling years in maternity nursing, my interest began to shift towards the practice of sleep training. I would spend countless hours analysing why one baby would sleep through the night at 12 weeks, while another wouldn't until 6 months. I delved into identifying the most effective methods and determining which routines suited each baby best.

I soon realised that every baby is unique, and they will naturally reach the milestone of sleeping through the night at their own pace. However, by providing them with an optimal sleep environment, teaching them to self-settle, and implementing a consistent routine from the beginning—whether it's before naps or in the evening—babies often develop healthy sleep habits on their own.

Of course, I understand that putting these principles into practice is easier said than done, as life often presents challenges along the way. Nonetheless, my goal is to equip parents with the knowledge and strategies to navigate those obstacles and create the best possible sleep journey for their little ones.

I have had the privilege of working with numerous families all around the world, and each experience has brought its own unique reward. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to care for and contribute to the upbringing of so many wonderful children. Each one of them has left a lasting impact on me.

I have found Florence to be a wonderful Nanny and maternity nurse, she clearly adores children and has an excellent ability to work with them and ensure their welfare.
Florence was a delight to have as a maternity nanny. It was the first time since having a baby that I managed to have a good night sleep and time to myself during the day. I felt calm relaxed, and in the knowledge that Florence was extremely capable and that my 12 week old daughter was in excellent hands.
